H. Stephen Watson, M.D. -- Biography

Dr. Watson is a board-certified diplomate of the American
Board of Urology and is the founder of the Urology Center. He is a practicing urological surgeon who is responsible
for introducing new and advanced applications
of medical and surgical treatments to the area, including the "sling"
surgery for female urinary incontinence, the "Studer"
orthotopic bladder replacement surgery for bladder cancer,
office based prostate microwave treatment, laparoscopic
prostate cancer surgery for the removal of
|
|
lymph nodes, contemporary urological office-based 5-channel urodynamics, laparoscopic testicular surgery, intraoperative antegrade percutaneous
access for kidney stone surgery, laparoscopic kidney
preserving cryosurgical freezing of renal cancer, current prostate biopsy
techniques, office based no-scalpel vasectomy,
cryosurgical prostate cancer freezing and many
others.
Dr. Watson is a Florida Parishes native who was born in
Baton Rouge. No stranger to hard work, Dr. Watson
grew-up working on his father's dairy farm near Amite,
Louisiana. He attended Southeastern Louisiana
University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree
from Centenary College of Louisiana.
Dr. Watson graduated from Louisiana State University
School of Medicine before completing his six-year surgery and
urology residency training at institutuions including Scott and White Clinic and
Hospital, Texas A&M College of Medicine; Boston Children's
Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Olin E. Teague
Veterans Memorial Hospital. Dr. Watson began his
urological surgery practice as a member of the physician
staff of the Ochsner Clinic prior to establishing the
Urology Center, a private urology practice.
Dr. Watson is the recipient of
numerous awards including awards
from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Medical
Association, the Southern Medical Association, Texas A&M
College of Medicine, the Texas Urological Association and
other medical organizations. He is the author of
scientific papers published in the internationally
acclaimed Journal of Urology as well as other peer
reviewed medical
journals.
Dr. Watson has authored and presented numerous
research papers concerning wide-ranging urological topics
at meetings around the nation. For his work he
accepted invitation to become a member of the Eta Chapter of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor
society. He is a member of the American Urological
Association, the
Southeastern Section of the American Urological
Association, local medical organizations and the Louisiana
and Texas Urological Societies.
